Installation and integration of a gas fire extinguishing system into the facility’s overall safety complex

Key Features:

For energy infrastructure facilities, particularly cogeneration plants, choosing an efficient fire suppression system that does not damage equipment and ensures personnel safety is critically important.

Taking into account the specifics of the facilities, a gas fire suppression system was chosen as the optimal solution compared to water and powder systems, which can lead to equipment damage or clogging of engineering systems.

A comprehensive system has been implemented at the facilities, including:

  • gas fire suppression;
  • indoor gas concentration monitoring.

The system automatically reacts to emergency situations:

  • in case of ignition, the natural gas supply is shut off;
  • gaseous fire extinguishing agent HFC125 is delivered through nozzles to localize the fire source.

The agent used does not damage the equipment and allows for safe evacuation of personnel.
If an increased gas concentration is detected, the system automatically shuts off the gas supply until a safe level is fully restored.

Implementation:

  • design and selection of a gas fire suppression solution considering the specifics of the facility;
  • installation of the gas fire suppression system (cylinders, pipelines, nozzles);
  • installation of gas concentration monitoring sensors;
  • integration of the system into the overall security complex and industrial control systems (ICS);
  • configuration of automatic response algorithms (gas shut-off, fire suppression activation);
  • execution of commissioning works.

Result:

A comprehensive security system has been implemented, providing automatic threat detection and rapid localization without damaging the equipment.

Ensured:

  • improvement of the facility's fire safety level;
  • protection of technological equipment from the consequences of ignition;
  • safe conditions for personnel in case of emergency situations.
